| Premature Ejaculation in Terms I Can Understand |
|
Premature ejaculation is a common complaint that many young males have. Edward Laumann, a University of Chicago sociologist, and the author of a U.S. sex study, says that 31% of men and 43% of women suffer from some form of sexual dysfunction. 1/3 of the males in the study said they had recurring problems with climaxing too early. A young male can become sexually aroused quite quickly; sometimes all it takes is a touch their hand and they have an erection. It may be flattering to the female that she can turn him on so quickly, but in bed the early ejaculation is not necessarily very satisfying. The female partner feel sexually frustrated when this happens. The following article has some practical guidelines to help the male understand premature ejaculation better. The average male takes less than three minutes from the time of insertion until he ejaculates. According to the technical definition, premature ejaculation is ejaculation that occurs prior to when a man wishes, or too quickly during intercourse to satisfy the partner. This usually leads to the loss of the erection because the discharge has temporarily released a state of elevated sexual tension. What can the male suffering from premature ejaculation do? One guideline given by many sex therapists is that he can masturbate before has sex with his partner. This will make him able to last longer when he is with his partner. This to work of course, means that the male has to be able to sustain a second erection following the masturbation. Older males may not have the ability to do this, but for young males this is sometimes the key that allows for a more satisfactory sexual experience. If a guy ejaculates quickly, he is going to lose his erection, and this “refractory phase” time when his “manhood” is relaxed, will last about fifteen to twenty minutes in a young man. There is really nothing either person can do to trigger another erection. So, if the young man uses the method described above, he should make sure that he allows plenty of time to recuperate before he and his partner are together. As a male ages, his refractory phase gets longer (he takes longer to recuperate in-between erections. Here is another guideline: Many males learn to control premature ejaculation by practicing “Kegel exercises" on a regular basis. Although premature ejaculation is the most common sexual dysfunction, it is very difficult for males to discuss “problems in the bedroom” with other guys. A male who can't “get it up or keep it up”, understandably feels like less of a man. Males would feel like they are not alone in this problem if more of them would open up and admit that they too are having the same problem. Another important guideline is that males need to understand that learning ejaculatory control takes time and practice. The key, is really about control of the ejaculatory process and releasing when both male and female are ready. Males tend to get really upset when they cannot time it right. Their egos are easily bruised and they may feel like they have to please the female every time. If she is compassionate towards his needs, she will reassure him that she does not have to climax and that there are plenty of other ways to be romantic with their bodies. The good news is that this is a problem that is highly curable, providing the man is willing to get help and invest the time and effort needed. Surveys suggest that 80-90% of men are able to learn better control through therapy, the practicing of various methods and patience. Last guideline: The first step to lasting longer is to become familiar with one’s own body. When the male is comfortable with his body, its sensations, and the feelings leading up to orgasm he is better able to control ejaculation. With time, practice and a better understanding of his body, a male can better predict when the orgasm will occur. This will prevent it from creeping up on him and taking him by surprise. Better control equates to better sex. |
