Removing Skin TagsSkin tags are very common, and skin tag removal is a common medical procedure, but many people opt for the DIY method of removing skin tags. It is more common for women to develop skin tags than men. Skin tags increase with age. Skin tags usually do not cause serous health conditions, usually just self-consciousness or they are bothersome. You do not have to go to a doctor to get rid of skin tags. If you have insurance, it may not cover it because it’s considered cosmetic. You can just as easily do what your doctor would perform in the office, at home. This is something you can do at home and in some ways the exact same way your doctor would. You can do this at home and not be out the money for a physician to do the work you can do yourself, or a friend can help you with. You can get rid of skin tags by cutting them off. Please keep in mind, if done wrongly, it can cause an infection. Use new sterile instruments to perform this procedure. You can use scissors or something smaller if you believe it would work better. Just nip the skin tag as close to the skin as possible, trying to get the entire tag. This may sound terribly painful, but it’s really not. Have bandages and gauze ready for when you clip it off. It is okay to bleed a little so don’t feel that you clipped too close because you are bleeding. Keep the area clean afterwards. Another procedure is to freeze the skin tags. Doctors often use this procedure in the office and can be pricy. Why pay the price when you can perform this at home? There are many products that you can come about at stores to perform this action. These products are not as effective as the doctors so it is recommended to be used only for small skin tags. It may not work very well with larger ones. A third procedure would be to cut off the blood supply. This is done by tying string tightly around the base of the skin tag. This is considered to be the safest home remedy of removal of skin tags. This procedure you must allow 5-7 days for the skin tag to fall off. It will fall off as soon as it loses all blood supply. Another possible way that is still in research is using a lemon peel. Take a lemon peel and place it on top of the skin tag. Place a band-aid very tightly over this. I recommend only leaving it on your skin tag overnight and removing it the next morning. Be sure to keep it clean, wash it every time before applying and after removing the lemon peel from the skin tag. Do this procedure for a week or two. If the skin tag ever changes color or becomes slightly or increasingly larger, please consult a doctor. Do not try removing skin tags with any of these home remedies. If you are afraid to try skin tag removal on your own, feel free to ask a friend to help you. Do not try these remedies if you feel uncomfortable at all. |
